Three hurt in pair of two-vehicle crashes near Lebanon

Three people were injured in a pair of two-vehicle crashes Tuesday around the 34000 block of Santiam Highway north of Lebanon.

Lebanon Fire District personnel responded to the first accident shortly after 4:45 p.m. According to battalion chief Nick Tyler, one vehicle sustained front-end damage and the other had rolled onto its top with its driver inside.

“The report came in that the other car was on fire,” Tyler said, “but a bystander had used an extinguisher to put it out.”

Crews used extrication equipment to pull the driver from the rolled-over vehicle. She was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. The other driver was taken to a local hospital. Their identities and injuries were not immediately known.

Santiam Highway was closed off near its intersection with Spicer Drive for about three hours. At around 6:30 p.m., a second accident occurred nearby, in the vicinity of Santiam and KGAL Drive, when a car struck an Oregon Department of Transportation vehicle. One person was taken to the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with unknown injuries. The ODOT representative was not hurt.
