Leeton teacher murder: Marcus Stanford pleads guilty to being accessory

Edited by Nelly T.

Marcus Stanford has pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murder of Leeton schoolteacher Stephanie Scott, 26. Her burnt body was found 70 kilometres away from Leeton in the Cocoparra National Park in April last year.

Stanford is the twin brother of Vincent Stanford, a 25-year-old cleaner at Leeton High School, who was arrested four days after her disappearance. Vincent is accused of raping and murdering Ms. Scott just days before she was due to marry.

Marcus Stanford was charged with being an accessory after the fact and arrested soon after his brother in June last year. He was extradited from South Australia to NSW at the time. Vincent and Marcus Stanford are expected to appear in Griffith Local court today.

Marcus Stanford is expected to be sentenced in May.
