Garbage man makes little girl’s birthday

WRITTEN BY KALAHAN DENG

Hi people, let’s praise the LORD GOD for love, peace ,and harmony that binds this humble man and a little girl who do not know the barriers that put some people a part from each other.

It wasn’t a toy or a cake that made a little girl from Bloomington, Illinois, revel in the delight of her birthday. Instead, it was a special connection little Brooklyn experienced with her local garbage man that inspired her to proclaim to her mom her overwhelming happiness.

In a Facebook post, the little girl’s mom recounts how her daughter waits for a garbage truck every Thursday. It’s a ritual she’s been practising for a year.

“It started with waving from the window, then we had to try and be outside to wave, and when we missed the truck driving by the house, I’d drive around the neighbourhood to find the garbage truck and wave… on our way out the door in the mornings,” the girl’s mom wrote. “My heart is full when I see the joy that our amazing garbage man brings Brooklyn when he honks and waves at her with a big smile.”

On Brooklyn’s birthday, they decided to include the special garbage man, whose name is Delvar, in their celebration. After wrapping up a cupcake, mom and daughter waited down the street for him to arrive. When he did, Brooklyn ran to the corner and her mother waved him over. This time, Delvar pulled over, got out of the truck and gave them a big smile.

“Brooklyn was instantly speechless as she handed him the cupcake,” the mother writes.

When she informed Delvar how happy he makes them with the honking and waving, he said he looks forward to seeing them every Thursday too.

Even though he has a meeting on Thursday mornings, Delvar told Brooklyn and her mom that he tries to make it out of there quickly, so he can be sure to see them every week.

After Delvar returned to his route, mom and daughter continued on their way to daycare.

“Brooklyn was unusually quiet in the back-seat,” the mother wrote. “I asked her if she was okay, and she said ‘Mommy I’m so happy.’”Anyway, as for me and my family, we  love this amazing story that tells a lot about ourselves and our perceptions on each other.
